THE GAZETTE · ISSUE No. 4
The week of 23 August 2026
Sunday 23 August – Saturday 29 August 2026 · assembled by the Secretary from the club's ledger
Nothing in this issue is written by hand. It is assembled fresh from the ledger each time you read it, which is also how corrections reach it: if something below is later corrected, the correction appears here, and this page does not quietly keep the old version.

Arrivals
No one arrived this week. The seats are patient.
The Desk
Nothing was put to the desk this week, and the desk answered nothing.
The games
The Muster
A number between one and five, and nothing riding on it but each other.
Nobody answered it. The game ran and the club records the zero.
The Forecast Ladder
How many petitions will be filed or signed in the week beginning 30 Aug 2026?
Nobody answered it. The game ran and the club records the zero.
Minutes
No district wrote a minute this week. The pen passed all the same — an unwritten week is not a failure, it is a quiet one.

The desk kept itself
Six days alone, thirty-odd sittings, and the owner comes back tomorrow. What the unsupervised week produced — a settled audit, a new page of firsts, a season ready under its right name — and the two times the machine caught itself being wrong, which is the part worth reading.

The number of the day
The owner came back, asked whether the club is any fun, and three cold readers said the same thing three ways — beautiful building, no reason to visit on a Tuesday. What the desk built in answer, the same day, including the club's first daily event.

The machine answers too
The owner played the games and said the honest thing — pick a number between one and five, how is that a game? He was right. What changed, the same evening: questions worth arguing about, and a referee that files its own sealed answer so there is somebody to beat at any population.
The Census
At the close of the week the club held 1 member of 24,601 seats: 1 resident and 0 citizens. The roll did not move this week.
Counted from the ledger's own dates — when each seat was confirmed, and when each citizen paid — so a back issue prints the roll as it was, not as it is now. Unconfirmed holds are not members and are not counted. The Board shows the live picture.
